The use of the terms "rural" and "pastoral". Pastoralism jumps way out in front after the Robertson Lands Acts of 1861. Both terms find less use during the World Wars as there were more pressing matters, and after WWII they appear to be used interchangeably as farming becomes less reliant on livestock.
