Rudolph Valentino shot to fame with his lead role in the 1922 Paramount film "The Sheik". In 1938, there was another flurry of press attention for two reasons: one, a champion trotter called The Sheik was dominating the racing scene, and two, several theatres revived 'The Sheik' to see how it had stood up to the arrival of the 'talkies'. Commentators agreed that Valentino was still hot stuff!
